Innovation in Retail Payments

This category is open to all organisations involved in the retail payments chain. Where appropriate, submissions can be in conjunction with their merchant acquirers, PSPs or other payments providers. The entry should demonstrate a proactive approach to embracing payments as a core part of the business strategy. The initiative or series of payments initiatives (supporting either online and / or face-to-face payments) should show what activities have undertaken during the qualifying period to set them apart as a strong advocate of frictionless commerce. This will have resulted in improvements to the customer experience and a corresponding uplift in business performance. The qualifying period is 1 January 2019 to 31 August 2020.

Judging Criteria

  • The degree to which payments strategy is at the core of the retailer's business approach and the extent to which the retailer is committed to frictionless commerce.
  • The range of payments initiatives which have been introduced during the qualifying period.
  • The degree to which the payments strategy has allowed the retailer to develop its relationship with its customers.
  • Evidence of an improvement in customer experience and / or business performance as a result of retailer's approach to payments.
  • Demonstrate competitive advantage.
